Nowadays an expansion over the subject is seen, due to relevance of both economical and social-environmental sustainability. From society's awareness, these aspects must be incorporated into actions of public and private companies and so they have been evaluating and managing their role in order to promote global sustainability. The possibility of commercial barriers for products and services without social-environmental compromise or which reveal potentially damaging aspects to the environment, can lead businesses to economic and image risks. A systemic inclusion of these matters on product and service development in the management system of companies is an essential subject to protect business, avoiding risks and responding to shareholders and markets each day more conscious and demanding.

ACV Brasil arises from the common interests of a group of technological and environmental researchers and from the desire to create a company which contributes to guiding societies' development process. It is possible to reach this contribution performing orientative studies on productive processes, supporting the compatible use of natural resources and responding to demands for a fairer and more sustainable society. ACV Brasil's role encompasses the entire life cycle of products and services. The company is PRé Consultants partner, the developer of SimaPro software, as well as partner of ifu Hamburg GmbH, Umberto software developer's. José Adolfo de Almeida Neto

José is Professor and Researcher of Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz, Ilhéus, BA, in the fields of Energetic Balance, Environmental Impact Evaluation, Life Cycle Assessment and Inventory of biofuels with emphasis on biodiesel and biogas. He holds doctors degree in Agricultural Engineering from University of Kassel (2006) and was accredited as Doctor of Energy by Universidade de São Paulo. Link to academic curriculum

Cassia holds doctors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2001) and she is Professor of Universidade Federal Tecnológica Federal do Paraná. She belongs to the editorial board of the esearch and inventories center Ecoinvent and actively participates in Life Cycle Initiative. Cassia is experienced in the following subjects: Life Cycle Inventory Analyzes, Social Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Impact Evaluation and Life Cycle Projects. Link to academic curriculum

Felipe is an environmental engineer graduated in Universidade Federal do Paraná and former researcher in cosmetics industry, implementing Life Cycle Assessment on product development and developing an environmental impact monitoring system, based on life cycle and indicators. He is experienced in the following areas: Life Cycle Assessment Approach, Life Cycle Design, Life Cycle Inventory and Social Life Cycle Assessment.

Tiago is graduated in Computer Science and has experience in computational tools applied in Environmental Management. He is studying for a Masters degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering in Universidade Federal do Paraná, developing activities research on Life Cycle Assessment and biofuels. With Umberto for Carbon Footprint, from the German company ifu Hamburg GmbH, it becomes much simpler and easier to calculate a Carbon Footprint of one product or even of a whole company, in accordance with PAS 2050 and other internacional standards.From more than 3.000 GWP values of materials and processes, calculated by the Swiss Centre for Life Cycle Inventories ecoinvent, and availble in the software, it is possible to evaluate life cycle stages such as: raw material extraction, manufacture, distribution, use and disposal.You can even adapt the GWP values so they can better represent the scenario under evaluation. Environmental labels shall be represented by symbols or declarations. According to ISO 14020 series there are three categories of environmental declarations: types I, II and III. ACV Brasil offers the desired help for accrediting for types I and III.Type I declaration can be used to compare similarly functional products, considering their life cycles. It has a criteria list for evaluation and are certified by organisations as ABNT, responsible for establishing criteria list and verifying it through specific procedures.Environmental Declarations Type III describe the environmental performance of a product or service through an Life Cycle Assessment. They are similar to food labels specifying quantities of fat, sugar and vitamins.
